About Us

TechniType Transcripts was founded by Deborah Lattimore in 1982, in Annapolis, Maryland. Dr. John T. Mason, Jr., former director of the U.S. Naval Institute Oral History Program, and Paul Stillwell, Dr. Mason’s successor and well-known author, provided extensive training in oral history transcription and indexing.

In the mid-1980s, TechniType began transcribing for the late Elizabeth Mason, former director of the Oral History Research Office at Columbia University, a working relationship which continues to the present day.

Since 1982, our staff has grown to include approximately twenty-five professional and experienced transcribers, proofreaders, and indexers.

We have been honored to work for thousands of oral historians around the world. We value our partnership with each client and bring to each project a deep respect for the value of oral history, the life story of each interviewee, and the professionalism of each interviewer. We are proud of our reliability, our courtesy, and our commitment to superior quality.
